Books, movies, music, and sites are not to be missed.

The touch of books
From the slipper to the living room table, these coffee table books are the best gift you can give... to others and yourself.
The touch of cinema
The holiday season is the perfect excuse to sink into the sofa and watch TV - or into the cinema seats. That's why, in addition to the must-see premieres, we've rounded up those classics that never fail to make an appearance this time of year.
The touch of music
Preferably on vinyl, because the sound is more authentic: this is the best of the recently released records we want to have played at home.
The touch of the past
It is a kind of velvet fantasy, this one that commands the trip that follows. The hotels and restaurants on these pages haveone thing in common: an extremely tasteful decor... and high doses of velvet in their interiors.
Rocco, The Ivens Hotel, LisbonWith a charm that fits perfectly with its location (Chiado), this restaurant belongs to the iconic - and recently refurbished - Hotel The Ivens. Its décor, where velvet rules, is so fantastic that in less than a year Rocco has become one of the hottest spots in the capital.
La Mamounia, MarrakechAppropriately named after Mamounia, which means "haven" in Arabic, the hotel was considered for decades to be the best in the world. Built-in the palace of Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah, it hosted such notable guests as Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin. In some of its sumptuous corners, you will find, you guessed it, velvet.
Café de São Bento, LisbonIt is one of the most exquisite spaces in the capital and, at the same time, one of the most legendary restaurants in Lisbon. The Café de São Bento is a symbol of the city, not only for its service but also for its decoration, where the velvet stands out - red, intense, unforgettable.
The Ritz, ParisFounded in 1898, the Ritz in Paris is one of the last vestiges of an increasingly rare luxury. Many of its rooms and bedrooms are sumptuously decorated with velvet that dates back in time. For its history and prestige, the hotel is one of the most legendary and sought-after in the world.
The Gallery, The Carlyle Hotel, New YorkInspired by the dining room of the Topkapi Palace in Turkey, entering this restaurant is like stepping into another world, light years away from the cityscape that surrounds it. Sumptuously decorated with velvet chairsand dark red walls, The Gallery is one of the best examples of (decadent) New York luxury.
Brilhante, LisbonWith an intimate atmosphere, reminiscent of Lisbon's cafes of old, Brilhante is as mysterious as it is elegant. Recently opened, two trumps make it one of the new spots not to be missed: the refined menu and the exquisite decoration that mixes leather, velvet, and gold.
The Savoy, LondonLocated in the heart of historic downtown London, The Savoy was the first luxury hotel in the UK with electricity and hot water. While these luxuries are natural conveniences these days, the charm of The Savoy is legendary - as is its décor, where velvet details are not lacking.
