The White Lotus arrecadou categorias proeminentes como Best limited series, anthology series or TV movie e Best supporting actress in a limited series or TV movie, e foi, ao lado the Abbot Elementary, que levou para casa os galardões Best TV series – musical or comedy, Best supporting actor in a TV series e Best actress in a TV series – musical or comedy, um dos vencedores da noite no que diz respeito a séries. Na vertente das películas, The Fabelmans, de Steven Spielberg, acumulou categorias cobiçadas como Best Film - drama e Best Director, enquanto que The Banshees of Inisherin também repetiu idas ao palco para receber os Golden Globes para Best film – musical or comedy, Best screenplay e Best actor – musical or comedy.

O regresso da gala, que vai na sua 80ª edição, às transmissões ao vivo (a de 2022 não foi transmitida depois de críticas e acusações de corrupção, discriminação e abuso de poder) foi recebida com grande antecipação e novidades, como a entrada de mais de 100 novos membros da Hollywood Foreign Press Association (entre eles, o português Rui Pedro Tendinha). Nem o anfitrião da cerimónia parece ter sido escolhido ao acaso: "I'm here because I'm Black" ["Estou aqui porque sou negro"], argumentou jocosamente (só que não) Jerrod Carmichael no discurso de abertura.
