Our homes, places of rest and comfort, are targets of a true metamorphosis in the hands of VELUX. Through natural light, a revolution is proposed in the way we interpret our domestic spaces

The cocoon represents the transitional phase in the life of butterflies, the time when they are stagnant, focused on the metamorphosis necessary for the next phase of their life. The human species does not go through this process, but in a way, we create chrysalises. Our homes, places where we rest to gather strength for what lies ahead, are in a way our cocoons. Concerned with how this space shapes us, VELUX interprets its windows as transforming the space in which they are located. Able to turn any space into a home, the Danish brand sees sunlight as a catalyst for quality of life. Through the notion of Transforming Spaces, the concept of home is subject to a real revolution.

The VELUX philosophy emphasizes that our homes are not just where we go at the end of the day, they are an extension of who we are. Ensuring their aesthetics and comfort is fundamental to taking our quality of life to its highest level. Sunlight, accessible through the design of Danish brand roof windows, is one of the most important components in ensuring a healthy mental health. Responsible for the production of serotonin, exposure to natural light has a direct influence on our mood. Homes, the nuclei of our essence, need this luminosity to claim their place as spaces of happiness. The growth of interest in the meaning of well-being in the home came, as would be calculable, from the period of confinement, when the domestic space became a veritable cocoon. Closed and dark, the cocoons of the pandemic came to create the need for a new typology of home: translucent chrysalises, where light moves through space as if it were a mythological butterfly. Able to enter and exit through windows, it is the delicacy of sunlight that underlies the analogy, gently floating into a house.

It is not only aesthetics and well-being that VELUX envisages, but also sustainability. The presence of sunlight considerably reduces the use of artificial light and thus saves energy resources. What the Danish brand proposes is not simple adjustments, but a true metamorphosis of the domestic space. Through its proposals, VELUX conceptualizes the interior of the home as harmonious with nature.
