Promises: to be a moisturizing and volumizing lipstick that combines shine and intense color in a long lasting finishing. Vogue’s word: in one word? Ridiculous. It’s ridiculous to think that I spent years (decades?) religiously following a ritual that involved the mandatory application of “chapstick” before every single “normal/pigmented lipstick” because of my dry lips. Because a) I was sure someone somewhere wondered what I was doing, taking one or another package, with eyes on the mirror, as if the action of applying lipstick were a (very little) holy sacrifice; b) because one of those people probably already knew about Rouge Coco Bloom and must have said something to themselves: “How silly”. It took me hundreds of lipsticks to reach this invention of the Chanel labs, which is a prodigy when it comes to color, hydration and sparkle. Very few things leave me speechless, but this product is one of them.

Promises: to hydrate the skin and soften texture. Vogue’s word: my passion for this lotion happened by chance - a trip where the nécessaire was left at home. Of course, the first thing I did when I reached my destination was run to a store where, on the way to the register, I found a travel set by Fresh. It was meant to be. There are many factors to be praised in this product, even before applying it. First, the visual aspect: the petals suspended in the fluid are extremely aesthetic. There is also the undeniable odor: I usually despise the smell of roses, but there is something that makes this the exception to the rule. But my deep appreciation was only set when I felt it in my skin: besides being hydrating, it visibly diminishes the size of pores. It’s the ideal product to apply “under” serums or moisturizers. I use this religiously every morning and evening for almost three years and I cannot imagine my skincare routine without it.

Promises: to lengthen and volumize eyelashes, to bring out the passionate side of our eyes. Vogue’s word: when I first opened this package and saw the applicator, I lost all and any expectation for this mascara. If I had to choose between length and volume, I always go for length and the applicator made me believe I would be left with clumpy lashes - true spider legs. I was so mistaken. The salvation was the product’s creamy formula, which gets you the best of both worlds. The final result is a cat eye with long and voluminous lashes - a look that easily makes it until the end of the day without smudging.
Mascara Passioneyes, € 41,95, Dolce & Gabbana.

Promises: to offer perfect coverage and daily care, thanks to its highly pigmented, waterproof and long lasting formula. Vogue’s word: it may not be right to judge a book by its cover, but, in Beauty, it’s common to judge a product by its price. And that was exactly what I did when I was recommended Catrice’s Camouflage concealer. “So cheap? It’s not gonna be well distributed or it’s not gonna cover anything”. Needless to say I was wrong. I’ve had this concealer for years as one of my makeup kit essentials, and I always buy a new one when I feel the product running out. Its coverage is light, but effective, it doesn’t dry the under eye nor does it build up in fine lines. Besides, its formula is vegan. What more could you ask for? Only an automatic shipping service every time you run out.
Concealer Camouflage, € 3,99, Catrice, at Wells.pt.

Promises: to dissolve makeup and impurities, remove dirt, oil and pollution from the face, as it is soft enough to be used in the eye area. Vogue’s word: we are always in search for more sustainable cleaning methods and this one pleased me. This cleansing balm is to be applied over dry skin, as it is emulsified with the help of a little water. Since its texture is rich - it has coconut and sweet almond oil - it’s easy to feel like it gently dissolves makeup without the need of punishing the skin, which means that all it takes is a humid towel to remove the product - and, with it, the day and night pollution. You can also rinse your face, but being speechless is for using as little water as possible in this step and, in the end, you can pass on the moisturizer, since the oils in this balm leave the skin nourished and don’t pull. By the way, if one is to say anything at all, let it be an onomatopoeia of delight due to the citrus scent.
Tangerine Cleansing Balm, € 22, Rowse Beauty.
