In the wonderful world of kitsch, where nostalgia for the past mixes with a fascination for things that even money can't buy, there are harmless-looking porcelain dolls that, at night, when we're all asleep, achieve every woman's dream: they wear the most beautiful jewellery of the season and walk around for hours, indifferent to those who suggest they've stopped in time. They know better.
