The Kitsch Issue
Voguing: a masculine, feminine or non-binary noun with two meanings. The first refers to a type of dance popularized at the end of the 1980s and immortalized by Madonna's 1990 hit. The second is inspired by this form of body art to describe some of the most daring beauty looks to be found in the pages of Vogue Portugal. As the queen of pop would say: "What are you looking at?"
Witching hour
Valuable resources are spent looking for extraterrestrial life when, in fact, the extraordinary has always been right here beside us. Hidden by some shiny powders, perhaps. At the bottom of the make-up bag, most likely. Still, the right products are there - just waiting to be called upon to create an extraterrestrial look.
Colorful play
There are few things in the world of grown-ups that make us embrace our inner child. However, beauty is one of them. Messy brushes revive memories of afternoons spent painting. And vibrant colors, however bold they may seem, reflect the tones that make up our personality. There's no need to be afraid of painting outside the box.
Red freckles
Even in its most subtle shades, there's something passionate about a beauty look painted in shades of red. Perhaps because this color has always belonged on the face. To the lips, which are naturally red. The cheeks, which welcome this shade in life's most special and difficult moments. The contours of the face which, with a little inspiration, are painted with the most powerful red on the color palette.
All that glitters
As soon as the pandemic began to show signs of dying out, glitter invaded beauty trends in such a way that it managed to dethrone the minimalism that had reigned for almost a decade. Now, no one wants anything else. Glittery lips. Glittery eyes. Glittery cheekbones. Even glittery eyebrows, eyelashes and teeth (yes, with gemstones). Out with the old, in with the glitter.
Chasing rainbows
The colorful makeup look that landed James Charles on the cover of Vogue Portugal in 2020 has inspired beauty looks worthy of being the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Here, creative expression isn't blurred, it's accentuated. And this can be seen in the freedom with which brushes dance between the eyeshadow palette and the face. After all, who hasn't wished for pink freckles?
