Modeling is also an Olympic sport - not because you take everything in stride, but because there are poses that seem to defy the laws of gravity, frames that require flexibility from the star (and the photographer) and stills that seem effortless but are a testimony of a collection of years of experience in front of the lens. Let the images on this page and those that resulted in the final Style Olympics editorial, on page 188, confirm this.

Paris of France

Which is also the Paris of Fashion and, in 2024, it is as well the Paris of Sport, with the Olympic Games taking place this summer in the French capital. The connection between the two areas may not have as obvious a connection as others, but they still share a strong link. From the influence of sportswear on fashion to celebrity athletes (a topic we explore in this issue, on page 184), as well as uniforms imagined by designers, there is a lot to say about this Fashion & Sports duo. That's why we dedicated a space to it, on page 272.

If there is one area that deserves mantras and inspiring phrases, it is sport. Saying the right thing at the right time can dictate an athlete's victorious finish. Therefore, we have added some winning speeches below.

“Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to win is.” - Vince Lombardi (1913-1970), first American Football coach to be a Super Bowl champion.

“Adversity makes some men break; and make others break records.” - William Arthur Ward (1921-1994), American writer.

“Both in the dust of defeat and on the laurels of victory, there is glory to be found, if you have done your best.” - Eric Lidell (1902-1945), Scottish athlete.
