Books, movies, and music not to miss.

Books, movies, and music not to miss.

What's the tea: books

True to the tradition of quality to which we are accustomed, the rentrée arrives loaded with novelties that call for five-star reviews.

What's the tea: music

We recall the best fairy tales, but we don't stop at the more predictable fairy tales. We explore new interpretations and other cultural variations of the format.

Music has always been a way of escaping reality, of abstracting ourselves from the bad things to focus on the good things in life. In an admittedly fractured world, the role of music has never been more important - and the releases in the second half of the year do not disappoint. Aside from cases where music is itself an act of charity, such as Hey Hey Rise Up, the new Pink Floyd album (the first with new music in 25 years) whose profits will be donated to the Ukrainian population, it can also be a reminder of the need to dance, even amid life's tragedies. To fulfill such a purpose there is no one quite like Madonna, the queen of pop is back with Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones, in honor of her 50th top, hit on the Dance Club Songs chart. Among the selected tracks are titles such as Vogue, Like a Prayer, Music and Hung Up. But you don't have to listen to Madonna to understand her legacy, you just have to be an (attentive) appreciator of most modern pop music, as is the case with Rina Saywama's new album, Hold the Girl - a tribute not only to Madonna but to all the female energy contained in pop music. With songs inspired by Shania Twain, Madonna, and even Girls Aloud, Hold the Girl, has everything to be a success similar to Saywama's first Saywama's first album.

To approach new releases and not mention Renaissance would be sinful. Beyoncé's new album is, to quote Lady Gaga, "spectacular, never the same, unique, completely not ever done before, unafraid to reference or not reference", or in layman's terms, a masterpiece. The work is a tribute to her uncle who died from complications with HIV, a tribute realized to perfection. Renaissance was, as the name implies, intended as the soundtrack to a new era, the rebirth of common joy. Although far from Beyoncé, Two Door Cinema Club's new album also echoes this feeling - exacerbated by the post-pandemic "urgency". On their fifth album, Keep On Smiling, the Northern Irish band returns to their roots, with contagiously joyful indie pop music. Calvin Harris (who has a habit of turning everything he touches into gold) also aims to get everyone dancing. Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 is the sequel to the album released in 2017, and where he features major collaborations, such as Dua Lipa, Snoop Dogg, Pharrell Williams, and Justin Timberlake. We could not fail to mention one of the most anticipated releases of the season: Born Pink, by Blackpink. After a two-year wait, the South Korean band is back with the intoxicating single Pink Venom, which introduces the new album from the world's biggest girl band.

What's the tea: movies

It is with our eyes glued on the new movie premieres that we give up the last rays of sunshine. Who needs a hot girl summer when you have cinephile fall?

Outdoor, September. Year: any. Protagonists: more than half of the population. The ritual is always the same, and could even make a movie called "Here we go again. All over the world, beaches are exchanged for movie theaters. for movie theaters, and it has nothing to do with the end of the hot season (because, in the case of Portugal, autumn is quite merciful), but rather the autumn is quite merciful), but rather with the avalanche of films that are about to open - both in theaters and on streaming platforms. in theaters and on streaming platforms. In 2022 you no longer need a movie theater (not so quiet, if you consider the chewing of popcorn) to enjoy a cinematic experience. Take Blonde, the much anticipated Marylin Monroe biopic with e Armas in the helmet, where the Hollywood legend and the Cuban actress get mixed up. The film's premiere, directed by Andrew Dominik, is scheduled for September eight on Netflix. Equally anticipated, Don't Worry Darling, starring Harry Styles and Florence Pugh, represents the second time that Olivia Wilde puts herself has put herself behind the camera, after the very well-received Booksmart. The film, whose trailer has been shared until (it is not only fans of the singer of As It Was who can't wait to see are anxious to see the viral dinner table scene) arrives in Portuguese cinemas on to Portuguese cinemas on September 22nd. By the end of the year - year, we know it is still too early to talk about it, but it is inevitable that - we may see must-see sequels like Big Trip 2: Special Delivery Delivery (no, this is not just a movie for kids), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Panther: Wakanda Forever (which confirms the disappearance of T'Challa, following Chadwick Boseman's death in 2020), and Avatar: The Way of Water (which is expected to last around three hours, according to James Cameron). December will bring December will also bring the return of the most powerful hero of the seventh art, Liam Nesson: In Retribution, a remake of a 2015 Spanish film, he will be a businessman
