With its ability to change shape, wandering erratically in secret places like caves and rivers, it lingers on this border, almost like a purgatory, between the palpable and the transcendent, and promises treasures to whoever frees her from her curse, seducing with her irresistible beauty. Enchanting stories, legends that pass from generation to generation, and that lend themselves to pseudo-truth in scenarios like this one in Monsaraz. Perhaps it is the influence of this being that clouds our discernment, but believing in magic is no longer optional and becomes a reality in this Alentejo plain, with this mythical woman who lives there.
