How deep is Omega's love for the oceans? Approximately 10,935 meters, which is like saying: watchmakers have never reached a love as deep as this. By conquering the furthest point of the ocean's surface, the Mariana Trench, Omega placed the Seamaster at the center of watchmaking history. However, this is just one of the many remarkable events that make up the success of the collection that was born 75 years ago.

It was the year of 2019 when Victor Vescovo reached the farthest underwater place on Earth. In a 12-hour journey, the explorer covered 10,935 meters in the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean, breaking the record for the deepest dive in history - but he didn't do it alone. At his side was a tool that excels in precision at every level: the Seamaster Planet Ocean, developed by Omega. You don't need to know much about the Swiss brand to know that its love of ocean expeditions goes back a long way. The Marine model, considered the first diving watch available to the public, had its inaugural launch in 1932, after a successful test at a depth of 135 meters. Shortly afterwards, in 1948, Omega would eventually present the Seamaster collection, which combined a versatile aesthetic with its avant-garde water-resistant technology. Seventy-five years on, the brand continues to refine its relationship with the depths of the ocean. To pay tribute to this historic legacy, it has presented seven new models that take us on a journey from the surface to the underwater abyss, guided by the Summer Blue hue.

On the surface of the water floats the elegant Aqua Terra. Its crisp appearance is enhanced by maritime-inspired elements, such as the gradient dial that refers to the different levels of depth, available in 38 and 41mm versions. Even more irreverent is the dial of the Aqua Terra Worldtimer, with its representation of Planet Earth from space. The beauty of this 43mm model lies in the details, such as the 24-hour reading mechanism, in which the daytime period is painted in shades of light blue, while the darkness refers to the night. It's a more robust watch that can withstand depths of up to 150 meters. First launched in 1957, the Seamaster 300 also returns to celebrate 75 years of Omega's collection. Its name bears witness to its capabilities, as does the caliber 8912 Co-Axial Master Chronometer, certified at the highest level by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology. The Diver 300M is distinguished from the latter by its design. The presence of the diving scale and the helium escape valve are central to its oceanic nature, complemented by the dial with a wavy pattern in Summer Blue tones. The increase in depth opens the door to the Planet Ocean 600M which, once known for its orange bezel, has been recreated in the commemorative color. The 39.5mm model, forged in steel, is a delight for divers looking for the latest technology. The same can be said of the last two watches that complete the new collection. Considered the world's best-known diving watch, the Ploprof is made of O-MEGASTEEL, a material exclusive to the Swiss brand, and was the first model to receive the innovative method of attaching the glass to the monobloc case, eliminating the need for a helium escape valve. Its perforated rubber strap recalls the emblematic look of the 1970s, when it was first created. The Ultra Deep needs no introduction - it is the publicly available version of the watch worn by Victor Vescovo on his expedition to the Mariana Trench. This feat is immortalized on the dial which, illuminated with ultraviolet light, reveals the phrase "Omega was here", indicating the location of the deepest dive in history.

The celebration of the Seamaster's 75th anniversary wouldn't be complete without a commemorative background, present on all the models featured, where Poseidon, God of the sea, sails the ocean alongside two seahorses. All these elements are a reference to Omega's history and have also been recreated in a collection of accessories that accompany the emblematic watch models. Among key rings and cufflinks, the delicate Summer Blue bracelet finished with the trident of Poseidon stands out. However, unlike in Greek mythology, it is not a symbol of power, but of Omega's love and respect for the oceans. After all, its watches are the masters of the sea - and have been for 75 years.
