Endowed with an allure that bewitches anyone who hears their song, the myth goes, they are also the embodiment of a dichotomy that makes them as fascinating as they are dark: legend had it that these secret creatures lured sailors to their deaths, spread among anyone who ventured into the uncharted waters (a common practice in antiquity, from which the main stories about these half-woman, half-fish figures emerge). Beautiful and deadly, seductive and murderous, light and darkness. Fast forward to modern times and an urban jungle that harbors as much secrecy as the inhospitable depths of the seven seas, and aren't we all mermaids too?
