What happens backstage, doesn't stay backstage at Vogue Portugal. Here's your all access pass to The Mystery Issue.

Twilight Zone

There are behind-the-scenes aspects of this issue that also have a mystical feel to them and one of the cover shoots, the one with Marisa Liz, did have curious coincidences. Starting with the date on which it was photographed: the singer's availability coincided with the schedule of Vogue’s team on a Friday, the 13th, which could only be a good omen, against all superstitions, for an issue subordinated to theme “Mystery”. Then the interview, which was another mysterious conversation that led us into the unknown — and the unknown here without subliminal messages or metaphorical meaning: the unknown aka “I don’t know”. Many of the questions asked were left with answers shrouded in mystery. If you want to decipher them, they are exclusively on video, in the QR Code found at the end of Escape Room, on page 234.

Say it in secrecy

Or, in this case, loud and clear to be heard in the future: over time, there were many names that invoked the "mystery in their works", many others in their words. Some of the following illustrious people are included in both groups; everyone allowed these quotes to be printed in the conversation starters of multiple dinners and evenings.

“The most beautiful experience we can have is mysterious. It is a fundamental emotion that is at the birthplace of true art and true science.” - Alberto Einstein

“The possession of knowledge does not kill the feeling of wonder and mystery. There is always more mystery.” - Anais Nin

“The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible.” - Oscar Wilde

“I am a great admirer of mystery and magic. Look at this life — all of it mystery and magic.” - Harry Houdini

“Science cannot solve the ultimate mystery of nature. And that's because, ultimately, we ourselves are part of the mystery we try to solve.” - Max Planck
