The Icons Issue
Her well-styled blonde hair, her alabaster skin tone, her unavoidable voluptuous curves, the eternal western references in her wardrobe... her physical features may give her away, but it's not because of her figure that Dolly Parton has become an icon.
The inexcusable voice of country music, the power of the notes she has always sung in classics like Jolene or Islands in the Stream is only surpassed by the magnitude of her example as a woman, evident in her themes and actions: for her self-determination, struggle, professional achievements, exemplary career, fight for women's rights, both in the first person and in the lyrics of her songs, Parton is a born feminist, although she is the first to refuse the title. Collector of countless Halls of Fame inductions and countless awards (most recently, in October this year - she won the Peace Through Music Award for being a promoter of peace and global mutual understanding), the following pages celebrate, at first glance, an interpretation of her unmistakable style; but above all, they pay homage to the intelligent woman with a sense of humour, beautiful in the broadest sense of the word, that she is - and that we all want to be.
