Love & Hope Issue
This season's trends, explained.
It’s a wrap!
Ice! Who knew we'd be facing the arrival of cold temperatures with such optimism? Ultra- large coats, XXL scarves, shawls, blankets... Inspired by the Nordic countries, the catwalks were dressed in (very) warm garments, following the basic rule of layers: the more you feel "embraced" by the clothes, the better. Why shiver in the cold when you can go out in the street in an all-proof Gabriela Hearst or Stella McCartney coat?
Main character syndrome
Excuse all the other garments, but there's nothing like a good long coat that almost touches the ground. Few things can be so dramatic and elegant at the same time. Few things can simultaneously have high doses of rebelliousness and extremely high degrees of sensuality. Maxi coats - which are more than a trend, they're a timeless statement - are the best ally for those who don't want to give up romanticizing their day-to-day. In other words, all of us.
A pop of red
It's the color that best sums up the mood of the season: sober, confident, bold and sophisticated. To have a red item in your wardrobe is to elevate an outfit to the level of refined elegance. What was once risky is now sublime. Take "the" coat that the Olsen sisters designed for The Row. That look 18 from the autumn/winter collection confirms two things: a) in the right dose, the color of love can be the best bet of all; b) nothing symbolizes the concept of "quiet luxury" like knowing how to use the season's trends - in moderation.
