What if there was a camera on every corner recording our every move? What if our entire lives were being archived on a CCTV circuit, saved for posterity not as a souvenir, not even as an acquittal, but as a sentence? What if each lens recognized us, identified us, evaluated us?
What if there was a camera on every corner recording our every move? What if our entire lives were being archived on a CCTV circuit, saved for posterity not as a souvenir, not even as an acquittal, but as a sentence? What if each lens recognized us, identified us, evaluated us? What if each one of us, because of that, because of our behavior, posture, look, was judged by an artificial entity on whether we are a threat or if we are one of the good guys? In these images about a potential future under surveillance, resulting from a technological revolution, questions are raised about privacy versus security and whether efficiency and protection are the maximum bastions for sacrificing freedoms and personal rights. In these images of a futuristic world at the mercy of bits and bytes and fiber optics, questions arise about the role of technology in our lives and its potential consequences. In these images of an imaginary guarded cosmopolis, the biggest question of all actually arises: is the future now? Photography by Anastasia Fursova. Styling by Bobette Cohn.
