The Bridal Affair

Bridal fashion is changing. If until a few years ago the traditional white dress seemed to be the only option available to those about to "tie the knot", lately many brides have been opting for more modern looks — whether in the use of unexpected colors and textures or in the choice of unlikely combinations, such as suits. These are some of the trends for 2024.

Flowers everywhere

After the bouquets and decorations, flowers now occupy the most coveted place at a wedding: the main character, bringing even more delicacy and romance to wedding dresses. How? In prints, appliqués and embellishments, usually made in the same color as the dress — which can be pearl white, off white or "eggshell". There are also those who prefer to wear them on their shoes or as hair accessories.

Crystal clear

They're (apparently) quite simple pieces, but the way they're constructed makes them extra sparkly and magical. It's impossible to remain indifferent to the magnetism of the crystals, pearls and other precious stones that make up the dresses, gloves, purses and jewellery of the season. An ideal trend for brides who don't want to go unnoticed — but who also don't want to take too many risks.

Take a bow

They have become an indispensable element in recent seasons, both in clothing and accessories, and there are few collections that don't feature at least one look with bows. Now they have arrived in the bridal world, not just on hairpins or shoe appliqués, but above all on marvelous sleeves and tails, transforming dresses into true works of art.

Clean lines

In a tribute to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the most elegant bride of the 90s, clean style is still as current as it was then. Inspired by her wedding dress, designed by Narciso Rodriguez, thousands of women all over the world are trying to recreate the sophistication and refinement of that silk slip dress that changed the way minimalism was applied to bridal fashion.

A touch of color

There will always be white, the color inevitably associated with weddings, but it has long since ceased to be the only color associated with the big day. Pastel shades, such as light pink, sky blue or wheat yellow, are becoming more and more popular when it comes to choosing a dress. Be inspired, for example, by Mandy Moore's incredible look, courtesy of Rodarte, which the actress wore to tie the knot with Taylor Goldsmith in 2018.

She wears the pants

For civil weddings, for those who want to make a difference, for those who don't identify with traditional wedding dresses, and for those who know why Bianca Jagger, when she said "I do" to the lead singer of the Rolling Stones, made the list of the coolest brides ever, suits (with pants, of course) are the perfect solution. As well as giving a sense of empowerment, they can be worn on several occasions. The planet thanks you.

Drama queen

In recent years, it has become common to "change clothes" halfway through the wedding, i.e., for the bride to appear wearing a different look from the one she started the ceremony with — if it's a memorable date, why not? If this is the intention, overskirt dresses may be the right solution, as they allow you to remove layers of fabric (usually a full skirt) and reveal a more fitted silhouette, perfect for opening the dance floor.
