It's the most famous beauty product in the world, after lipstick. Even our grandmothers used rouge to make their cheeks look rosier. With the advance of technology we've come to call it "blush", and now we depend on it for everything, even on days when we don't go all out with our make-up.
Blush Subtil in the shade Blushing Trésor, € 52,99, LANCÔME, Sephora.pt.

Promises: long-lasting hold and flawless results. Vogue’s word: it's rare that this Subtle Blush isn't sold out, so if you find it you know — the universe is conspiring in your favor. When launching this product, Lancôme's aim was (apparently) simple: to find a blush that gave the skin a fresh, natural color, enhancing the beauty of the face. Mission accomplished. Its soft texture blends perfectly with the skin and guarantees a long-lasting feeling of comfort. Extra note for the brush, which helps to achieve a flawless result.
Rose Hermès Silky Blush Powder in the shade 35 Rose Doré, € 72, HERMÈS.

Promises: an ultra-light and pigmented texture. Vogue’s word: it is, first and foremost, an object of desire — with its round case and off-centre mirror, this white and gold disc of light designed by Pierre Hardy is a must-have for any beauty addict. What's more, it has an intoxicating scent (across the entire range) that is impossible to resist. But what really counts is its function: Silky Blush Powder has an ultra-light, pigmented texture that is both airy and compact — it's weightless, so it can also be used as a highlighter.
Blush Luminous Silk Glow in the shade 40 Mania, € 46,40, ARMANI BEAUTY, Elcorteingles.pt.

Promises: a luminous, natural shine. Vogue’s word: it looks like silk, but it's not. This is one of Armani Beauty's worst kept secrets, and just as well, because the results are worth every cent. Equipped with Luminous Silk filler technology, this blush softens the skin while giving it a touch of color and a subtle luminous finish. Its ultra-fine formula has spherical pigments that reflect light and make it fall evenly on the entire face, for a uniform effect.
Blush in the shade Orgasm, € 39,99, NARS, Sephora.pt.

Promises: a natural color for all skin tones. Vogue’s word: making a soda analogy, Orgasm is probably the Coca Cola of blushes. With a long list of awards to its name — and reviews along the lines of "orgasm is real" — this Nars best seller is a cult product. And for good reason. Its super-fine powder pigments ensure a smooth and luminous application, and its color, a mixture of "peachy pink and golden shimmer", looks good on any skin. Like an orgasm, the experts would say…
