The Blossom Issue
Roses are red, violets are blue. And the beauty trends for Spring are a multicolored universe in which creativity will like to flourish. Like any plant, imagination needs photosynthesis to transform energy into life. Fortunately, the sun is expected to be a ubiquitous celebrity in the coming season.
Gloss over lipstick
Let's hope the weather forecasts for the coming months show little wind, because that's the only enemy of the most powerful beauty product of the season: gloss. Its versatility allows it to give a multidimensional look to any shade or finishing of lipstick on the face of the earth. Burberry did it with black, Gucci with its rosso ancora and Luar with delicious browns. Only the color palette is the limit.
The side part returns
The 90s called and gave their blessing to the side part. However, you don't have to travel back in time to find inspiration in the return of this era. The Spring/Summer presentations by Valentino, Hermès, Loewe and Akris announce an intriguing proposal to modernize this hair look with two tools: a precision comb and a high hold product.
Put a flower on it
After months of dominating hair accessories, bows have a majestic competitor: flowers. These were seen adorning the hairstyles of the Spring fashion shows by Moschino, Ulla Johnson and Susan Fang, both in dramatic headbands and discreet pins that nevertheless didn't go unnoticed. And how about adding a hair perfume? Where there's a floral scent, there's a garden.
Modern minimalism
There's little minimalism about this modern minimalism trend. Instead, special attention is paid to skincare before makeup. The right cream is known to produce results that a high-coverage foundation could only dream of. So what is makeup for? To have fun and to accentuate the features we like most about our skin, as seen at the Fendi Haute Couture, Zimmermann and Proenza Schouler shows.
No shadow looks alike
For everyone who battles daily against the restrictions imposed by symmetry, it's time to color outside the lines. The Spring/Summer trends seen at 3.1 Philip Lim, Marni and Chet Lo dictate that eyeshadows don't need to be twins, sisters or cousins. They don't even need to be blood relatives. They can have different shapes, colors and finishings, depending on the mood of the day.
