The Fame Issue

The revolutionaries, the pioneers, those who, in their own way, shaped the beauty industry in such a significant way that we still sing their names today. It would take an entire magazine to describe all the icons who have marked the history of makeup. Nevertheless, five await us on the following pages: five big names, with their beauty routines reimagined.

Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly's grace was based on minimalism. Minimalism in her way of being, of presenting herself and, of course of wearing makeup. It is said that the Princess of Monaco never left home without two powders in her purse: a face powder, to touch up her makeup during the day, and a blush, which enhanced the (coveted) contour of her face. In her looks and skin routines, less was always more.

Grace Jones

Model, singer, actress and, in her spare time, a true beauty chameleon. At the 1983 Grammys ceremony, Grace Jones shone under the world's gaze with a smashing combo: bold blush and metallic smokey eyes. But it was her nights at Studio 54 that elevated her makeup to icon status. Her impeccably outlined eyebrows are a sign of (her) time, and her vinyl lipstick is a trend that continues today.

Cher

"Don't be afraid to be bold," is probably the most influential piece of advice Cher - the American singer who, at 77, still retains her youthful spirit - has to say about the world of beauty. Highlighted lashes, fearless shades of eyeshadow and glitter (lots of glitter): this is how you identify the face of someone who has defined her own makeup rules.

Marilyn Monroe

Men may prefer blondes, but that doesn't matter when it comes to Marilyn Monroe's revolutionary vision of beauty. Elegance and eccentricity come together in the power of the scarlet shade that painted her lips. And the eyeliner, so sharp that it seems to jump off the screen, makes her gaze paradoxically warming and seductive. Monroe overcame obstacles so that, today, beauty has no limits.

Sophia Loren

Sophia Loren's beauty is natural, not only because her features seem to have been drawn with a ruler, but also because her routine is based on ingredients from nature. Olive oil to moisturize the skin, mint leaves to reduce dark circles... If it's a Mediterranean trick, Loren has already used it. Still, no actress dismisses a good beauty product, and these combine simplicity with naturality.
